"We...have dreamt the world. We have dreamt it as firm, mysterious, visible, ubiquitous in space and durable in time; but in its architecture we have allowed tenuous and eternal crevices of unreason which tell us it is false." --Jorge Luis Borges1 comment - Leave a comment

The tree outside my window is completely covered with ice. I can see the individual branches, each encased in a thin transparent shell, bobbing in and out of the stark yellow glow from the streetlamps below. In this light the tree looks like a giant half-lit cobweb, spun precariously between looming brick walls. I'm sure it's cold and treacherous outside--freezing rain always makes me homesick and gloomy--but right now the view from my window is eerie and achingly beautiful. I want to stay up all night and just stare at this tree.Leave a comment

I'm sitting in my room right now, working on my paper for Physics 14 and listening to KFOG. Just now, they played "Smooth" (yes, the Santana/Rob Thomas song, you know it's good), and I felt a sudden, irresistible urge to get up and dance. Which I did. Like a moron. Alone in my room. And it was GREAT.4 comments - Leave a comment
I need to do this more often.
Also...why am I suddenly, occasionally seeing ads when I do things on LiveJournal? I thought they said that Basic account users wouldn't see ads as long as they were signed in. What gives?

Man oh man. If you ever want to sink deep into a gloomy, melancholy reverie while simultaneously basking in the astonishing power and craft of Really Good Acting (and of Samuel Beckett, of course), watch this video*:Leave a comment
*Ignore the overly spelled-out ending. The rest is amazing, I swear.

That's really all I have to say. I've been minimally conscious this week. Which is as it should be.
